Omniture SiteCatalyst Helpful Hint – IP Exclusion
IP exclusion is a very simple and easy low hanging fruit to attack and reap the benefits of. This simply tells Omniture SiteCatalyst that there are one to many addresses that you do not want factored into the KPI and metrics being tracked.This is helpful when you or your company wishes to do deep dive analysis on what’s really working vs. what’s not on your website. Currently, if you do not take advantage of this admin functionality or aren’t blocking them via a VISTA rule, you stats are showing both internal and external traffic (grossly inflating your numbers). Those average time spent on page stats that you see probably aren’t a good reflection on what external users are spending.To correct, you just need to log into SiteCatalyst, click on the admin button and then when the admin main page loads up, locate and click on exclude IP in the left hand nav.

One thing to keep in mind is that IP Exclusion in the admin panel can currently only be done on an account-level basis. If you wish to only exclude traffic from Production suites (and not test suites) you must set up a custom IP filtering VISTA rule.
