Omniture SiteCatalyst Helpful Tip – Tracking Exit Links on Mobile Devices

One issue that I ran into a few days ago was that a client of mine wanted to track clicks to an ad on their mobile WAP site via Omniture SiteCatalyst.  However, since I implemented the mobile tracking code that doesn’t call s_code.js, I realized that having exit link tracking was going to require adding additional code in order to work. Its pretty simple to get the code to work.  First off, you need the necessary code:<a href=”http://<namespace>.112.2o7.net/b/ss/<report suite ID>/4/REDIR/?url=http%3A%2F%2F<URL>&pe=lnk_e&pev1=http%3A%2F%2F<URL>&pev2=<link name>&”></a>Just place the code on the WAP site around the links that exit the site.In the above example, you will need to replace the <namespace> with the proper value for your company, the <report suite ID> with where you wish this exit link data to roll up into, the <URL> with the destination URL that you want the exit link to end up on and <link name> with the name of the link that drove the user to the external site. Please note:For tracking download links from mobile site, all you would need to do is adjust the pe=lnk_e value to pe=lnk_d.
