Tracking Blog Stats in Coremetrics

So you have a blog site and want to leverage Coremetrics to track the associated success events (i.e. revenue/orders/registrations) to each blog, its author and each individual entry but do not how to go about doing that.  Coremetrics, with its flexibilty, can provide you the ability to do that.

This blog posting goes into how you can tag them.

What you need:
- cmCreateManualLinkClickTag

Step one is to edit each and every link from the blog site coming into your commerce area.  This can be done by adding onClick events to each destination URL.  Belwo is an example of how it would look:

<a onclick=”cm_CreateManaulLinkClickTag(‘http://mysite.com?cm_re=Blog_Site-_-Blog_Author-_-
ArticleName’,’LinkName’,’PageID’)”>Link Name</a>

The first parameter within the tag is the destination URL.  You also need to add the cm_re parameter to the URL for real estate tracking.  The great thing about the cm_re tag is it doesn’t need to be confined to just tracking the effectiveness of links on a page.  Remember if you change the out of box functionality of the real estate tag, you will need to make note of the new naming convention and let the business users know as such.
