Product Merchandising in Omniture SiteCatalyst
Retailers, for example, sell products that can fall under multiple categories. As such merchandisers and buyers would love to know which one of these categories drives more purchases. This is illustrated when looking at something like a hard drive.
A hard drive could be in the product category of perhiperals and also internal computer components. This blog posting tackles this issue and hopefully provides you with the ability to figure out which products and which categories drive the highest/lowest purchases.
What you need:
one (1) eVar variable
When deciding on which variable to pick in the admin console, please make sure you make the following changes to that given eVar. These changes will make the eVar act as a merchandising eVar:
- Allocation = merchandising
- Expiration = visit
On category pages, set eVar1 to the category and subcategory that is currently being viewed. So if you were looking at the internal pc component:hard drive. you would set the eVar to:
s.eVar1=”internal pc component | hard drive”
Now with this implemented, you will be able to promote top converting categories which can in turn increase purchases as well as continue to promote the products in the best converting categories.
